Review of 2013

2013 was a big year for me. I celebrated my 50th birthday!

As far as my role as Chair of the Colonic Association, it was the final year of a 3 year term. There was so much to organise and prepare a new committee to continue the good work.

It is amazing how quickly things change. What did we do before Twitter and Facebook? The idea of life without Google is something we would all struggle with.

Access to information and knowledge is so much more easy than even 10 years ago and as I reflect on what has changed in my first 50 years, well it is quite a lot! Most of it I think has been for the better, but as far as how our body works, nothing has changed.

We understand more about how it works, and technological advances have allowed amazing developments in surgery and medical treatments.

On the down side, our society has made the medics less trustworthy of centuries of evidence of natural health and healing. This includes the plants and herbs that most modern medicine derives from, the power of care and convalescence allowing a safe environment for us to recuperate and unless we have a scientific paper to prove something we have to be sceptical and dismissive. Let’s hope we never give up on the essence of that most basic of sixth sense and being able to trust our Gut Instinct.

I am a big believer in a bit of what you fancy does you good, too much of anything is bad for you.

Balance is what we strive for…
